It’s alarming to witness the state of modern Christianity, where many claim Christ but reject His demands. We want blessings without sacrifice, grace without holiness, and heaven without surrender. Below is a hard-hitting reflection on the dangerous compromises creeping into the Church:
Give Me…The Distorted Gospel of Our Time
1. Give me Christ without the Cross. “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.’ (Matthew 16:24) We want a Savior, not a Lord.
2. Give me the Holy Spirit without conviction. “And when He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment.” (John 16:8) We want His power but refuse His correction.
3. Give me God’s love without obedience. “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) We embrace His grace but ignore His standards.
4. Give me Heaven without salvation. “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6) We assume heaven is guaranteed without repentance.
5. Give me grace without fruit. “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”(James 2:17) We claim faith but live like the world.
6. Give me hope without faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for…”(Hebrews 11:1) We desire blessings but won’t trust God in trials.
7. Give me a God made in my image.”You shall have no other gods before Me.” (Exodus 20:3) We worship a comfortable, culturally acceptable god.
8. Give me eternal rewards without earthly sacrifice “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…” (Matthew 6:20) We want crowns but refuse the cost.
9. Give me prosperity without persecution. “All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12) We seek the blessings of the Gospel but not its rejection.
10. Give me forgiveness without repentance. “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3) We want mercy but won’t turn from sin.

11. Give me eternal life without regeneration.“You must be born again.” (John 3:7) We want heaven without a transformed heart.
12. Give me spiritual gifts without the Spirit’s indwelling. “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.” (Romans 8:9) We crave power but resist His presence.
13. Give me a feel-good Gospel that leaves me unchanged.”Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” (Isaiah 5:20) We prefer sermons that comfort, not convict.
14. Give me knowledge of God without studying His Word. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved… rightly handling the Word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15) We want wisdom without discipline.
15. Give me resurrection without death to self. “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone.” (John 12:24) We want glory without surrender.
16. Give me power without prayer and fasting. “This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21) We want miracles without spiritual labor.
17. Give me deliverance without desperation. “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16) We want freedom without fighting for it.
18. Give me holiness without justification.” Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14) We want purity without the blood of Jesus.
19. Give me titles without being rooted in Christ. “Abide in Me, and I in you. Apart from Me, you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) We seek positions but lack a true connection to Him.
20. Give me a ministry without a message. “Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season.” (2 Timothy 4:2) We want pulpits but not truth.
21. Give me church without the Gospel. “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God unto salvation.” (Romans 1:16) We want community without conviction.
22. Give me testimonies without tests. “Count it all joy when you fall into various trials.”* (James 1:2) We want victory without battles.
A Call to Authentic Faith
This is not Christianity—this is counterfeit religion. Jesus didn’t die for a comfortable, compromised faith. He demands:
- Total surrender (Luke 9:23)
- Radical obedience (John 14:15)
- Unshakable devotion (Revelation 3:16)
