We call this day “Good” because on it, the greatest tragedy, the death of the Son of God, became the greatest victory for our salvation.
Isaiah 53:5; John 19:30
Jesus was beaten, mocked, and nailed to a cross. It looked like defeat. The sky went dark, and He cried out, “It is finished.” But in that moment, He was taking your sin upon Himself. He paid the debt you could never pay so that you could receive a righteousness you could never earn. It is called Good Friday because through His death, your separation from God ended. Today, do not look at the cross with sadness alone. Look at it with gratitude, knowing that because of this day, you are forgiven.
It is called Good Friday because through His death, your separation from God ended. Do not look at the cross with sadness alone. Look at it with gratitude, knowing that because of this day, you are forgiven and made right with God. The debt is paid in full. Will you receive what He accomplished for you? Trust in His finished work, and let the cross become your hope.
